Scientists set new download speed record

Researchers have set a new record for the rate of data transfer using a single laser: 26
terabits per second.

At those speeds, the entire Library of Congress collections could be sent down an optical fibre in 10 seconds and the equivalent of 700 DVDs in one second.

Earlier this year, Japanese scientists set a world record sending 109 terabits per second using multiple lasers. But the data rate of 26 terabits per second reported by the group of German, Swiss and UK scientists in today's Nature Photonics is the largest line rate ever recorded using a single light source.

Barclay's Premier League Showdown

Two relegation spots. Five teams. All separated by only a point, who will go down?

20 weeks ago, the table looked like this;
Birmingham were 19th,
Wigan 17th,
West Ham (now relegated) were sitting comfortably in 15th,
Blackburn & Blackpool in mid-table, both on 25 points.

Oh how it's changed. Now, these five teams are stuck at the bottom, with one point between them;
Blackburn - 40points - 15th
Wolves - 40points - 16th
Birmingham - 39points - 17th
Blackpool - 39points - 18th
Wigan - 39points - 19th

Here's an interesting one for you, between these five teams head-to-head, this is what the table would look like:
PPG = Points Per Game

Who do you think will be relegated today?
Do you think the relegated teams will bounce straight back up from the championship next season?
Who deserves to go down and who deserves to stay up?

Fast Food - Which do you prefer?

I haven't even started writing, but I'm now starving after thinking about fast food. We humans love our food, and when we're out and hungry searching for somewhere cheap to eat, we always turn to our trusty fast food chains.

Business wise, McDonald's excels all other fast food markets. A survey states that McDonald's is the most successful, followed by Wendy's, Taco Bell and then Burger King.

McDonald's has an estimate worth of 14billion, that completely overshadows all the others! But does McDonald's overshadow the others in the quality of food?

So this is my question, McDonald's may be the best financially, but what is the best fast food chain out there determined on the quality of the food they provide?

The End of the World?!

Apocalypse - Visual Representation
That's right everybody, apparently the world is going to end tomorrow evening at 6pm (English Time).

According to Harold Camping, an evangelical radio broadcaster from California, and his legion of devotees, May 21, 2011, marks the end of days; or "the rapture", as some prefer this singular take on Christ's second coming. God's chosen will be taken up to heaven, while the rest of us will be wiped out by a series of calamities.

Or this could just be a load of rubbish, as mentioned here in The Telegraph Newspapers article on the 10 dates the world failed to end. This could be another one? The Telegraph newspaper seem to have covered this story and have put together an article about a Christian group predicting judgement day (including a nice little video).

So what do you think? Say goodbye to your loved ones, or carry on living and forget about it? Where do you stand? Comment below.

o2 can't handle their network!

o2 today confirmed reports of a huge mobile network outrage. Not much information has been released by o2, but sources close to o2 have given hints that theft and vandalism has caused this mobile coverage downfall.

Today I had to make plenty of buisness calls and this problem caused major issues throughout my day. o2 are arguably the biggest mobile network out there and with the amount of money they have, surely they can prevent this? Come on, how did vandals even get close enough to carry out this outrage.

If you have been affected, comment below and what do you think should be done?

Do you know whose not winning? Ashton Kutcher.

The hit CBS show, Two and a Half Men, recently postponed due to the Charlie Sheen scandals, welcomes a new face. Kutcher is coming back to the TV Sitcom world, it's been a while, yeh five years. "I can't replace Charlie Sheen, but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people" says Kutcher. In reaction, Charlie thinks they made a good choice & still believes the show must go on.

To be honest, don't see how this guy can replace such a wild and wacky, come on what good stuff has he done since the butterfly effect? He's just going to get millions of pounds from reading scripts.....

What do you think?
